Dtac joined hand with HTC Thailand and Microsoft Thailand launch HTC HD7

joined hand with HTC Thailand and Microsoft Thailand launch the first Windows Phone7 – - in Thailand as the fifth countryin the world.

Nattawat Woranopakul, HTC Thailand managing director said that HTC HD7 is available in Thailand under exclusive collaboration with dtac for three months. It is the first Windows Phone 7 device in Thailand and HTC is the first brand.

“We focus on what the Gartner predicted that by the year 2012 Windows Phone and Android phone together will be the majority portion of the whole smartphone in the world. By first quarter next year, we will launch one more model of Windows Phone7 in Thailand through our local distributor – SIS Distribution,” said Nattawat.

Total Access Communication (dtac)’s senior vice president of Prodcuts Division, Pakorn Pannachet said that dtac aims to become the “mobile Internet company” with the aim to have 50 per cent of its total subscribers using mobile data services within between 2012 and 2013. Currently, around 20 per cent of total dtac subscribers use mobile data.

“To be mobile Internet company we have to raise up number of data usage over our network, that is now well-established on EGDE technology, with the wide ranges of data packages that fit to different customers’ needs. Selling different smart phone platforms require different data packages. However, we will sell all platforms, now we have iOS and Windows Phone by next year we will have Android phone,” said Pakorn.

HTC HD7, dtac is an exclusive providers for three months , the company aims to sell almost 10,000 units within these three months.

To draw customers’ attention, he added dtac offers special price with special package for HTC HD7.

“Buy HTC HD7, at the price Bt22,900 (included VAT) users have to buy the package of Bt799 per month but they just pay only Bt299 per month for 8 months. That means they will get discount with totally Bt4,000. Within Bt799 per month package, they can use mobile data at 3 gigabytes and get 200 minutes of voice call per month,” said Pakorn.

Meanwhile, Petchsiri Laungpairoj, senior product manager of Information Works Group at Microsoft (Thailand) said that Microsoft provides technology tools and facilities at Microsoft Innovation Center for local software developers in order to help them to develop applications for serving Windows Phone7 devices.

“Currently, we have 50 local independent software vendors who focus on mobile application development in our hand. Some of them now have already their applications available over application market of Windows Phone called ‘marketplace’ some are free and some are paid applications,” said Petchsiri.

HTC also differentiate its HTC HD7 with the unique local application called HTC Thai Hub developed by its partner – Jimmy Software- . Now, only ‘Quick Post’ 1.0 is available for HTC HD7 users in Thailand.
